Big Bob découvre Londres – English Lesson #5

Big Bob: Hello, I’d like to take the tour please.
Assistant: That’s great; but there are actually three tours, do you know which one you want to take?
Big Bob: No not really. Can you explain the difference?
Assistant: Well the first two tours take in all the main sights in London, like Buckingham Palace and Big Ben. The yellow route has a live commentary in English, but if you want the commentary in another language take the red route. Our third tour, the blue route focuses on the museums and shopping areas of London. It’s available in seven different languages too.
Big Bob: I’ll have two tickets for the red route please.
Assistant: Certainly sir, that’s fifty-two pounds in total.
Big Bob: Thank you. How long does the tour last?
Assistant: If you take the tour non-stop it lasts two and a quarter hours, but you can get off and on the bus as often as you want.
Big Bob: That’s great. Where’s the first stop?
Assistant: The first stop is Buckingham Palace: the London residence of the queen. Here’s a map. It will show you all the stops.
Big Bob: Can we get on board now?
Assistant: Yes there is a bus that is ready to leave now if you hurry.

Tourist: Do you know the story about the ravens in the Tower?
Big Bob: No. What are ravens?
Tourist: They are big black birds! There are ravens that are kept in the Tower all the time. The story goes that if they ever leave the Tower then Britain will experience a disaster.
Big Bob: Well we have ravens in my home town too! But we’d be happy if they left as they crap on the cars in the car park all the time!
Tourist: (laughs!) Don’t worry. That won’t happen in the Tower! The ravens stay on the ground.
